Is there a good Vangurard fund for growth and income that can compare to American Funds Capital Income Builder

The American fund charges a 5.25 up front sales charge. I don't believe Vanguard charges anything.

Probably the closest is Wellesley Income Fund. You are correct about the front-end load. Vanguard funds are no-loads.

You are correct in that Vanguard does not charge a load. American Funds Capital Income Builder is made up of approximately 66% stocks, 34% bonds and cash. The Vanguard version is their Wellington Fund, symbol VWELX. It's made up of approximately 65% stocks and 35% bonds and cash (more bonds and not as much cash as the American Fund).
PS Vanguard's Wellesley fund has about 30%-35% stocks and 60% to 65% bonds/cash so their "dividends/interest" may be a bit higher.

andy and gosh are both correct. side by the side the two are the same..however, the 5% fee eats up a lot of the profit...stick with vanguard for everything ...i do
