Interest Problem?

1.Casey invests $17000 in two funds that pay 11% and 13% simple interest, respectively. If she recieves $2080 in yearly interest, how much is invested in each fund?

x + y = 17,000
.11(x) + .13(y) = 2080.00

Solve it by making the x value in one equation equal to the x value in the other; subtract the new equation from the other equation. This will leave you with something y = somthing. Solve for y. Once you have y, subtract and get x.

It's easy. (I don't do homework. My diploma/degrees were earned entirely by my own efforts.)

Casey invested $6,500 at 11% and $10,500 at 13% giving her $715 plus $1365 for a total of $2080 interest for the year.
