How can i invest and promote environmentally friendly companies - not just own shares in them.?

I would rather not just own shares in a company or mutual fund because these options don't appear to actually promote environmentally friendly companies. Is there some way to invest in venture capital firms that in turn invest in environmentally friendly companies?

There are mutual funds that invest in green companies.

From the looks of it you didn't read the question very carefully. I specifically said that I didn't want to invest in mutual funds because this approach in my mind does nothing to promote these companies, but rather inflate their stocks. Report It

But have you thought about going to work for one? Or maybe founding one?

Actually if you buy shares you are increasing the demand and this means the price will go up and if enough people like you buy shares then everybody else will buy too.

You could buy shares of several companies every paycheck and if you never sell you would die a millionaire and then you could instruct your children to do the same and your family would be richer and richer every generation and you would save the planet too.

I am a Portfolio Manager and right now we (A few customers and myself) are moving older cars out of the United States of America (1992-1997) to reduce pollution and also reduce oil consumption.

We buy those cars on Ebay for a few hundreds of dollars and resell them for a few thousands of dollars overseas and use the money to buy more used cars.

We started with a very small amount ($1,000,000.00 USD) for the experiment and it turns out we are making money too.
