Which way to invest at age 52? |
Should I stay in individual stocks or sell out and invest in dividend producing funds currently yeilding 8% - 10%. I'm planning to retire in appx 10 years. Considering ur age, i would suggest fixed income funds than equity portfolio, that does not mean you will have to pull out entirely from equity, cut down your exposure to 25% of Ur total investments, invest the balance in debt funds, dividend yielding funds, etc.. Thanks. Both sound good wait the 10 years and then go on some crazy vacation and live it up! Sell out and invest in a less agressive portfolio. Now is the time you need to ensure that the money you have made is not lost in a rollercoaster market. If you want to invest in individual stocks use only 25% of your total assets to do so. Why don't you split your money between the two. Why does it have to be all or none? I would suggest you read the book by James Cordier and Michael Gross and then you will be able to retire in 5 years. I suggest you should invest into Mutual Funds. They are less risky and give good returns over a period of time. There is not enough information to answer your question. |
