Does acquisitions of companies, listed in an ETF fund increase it's price? |
Also can you make a windfall profit trading ETFs? How much should you to invest in a particular fund to make a large profit? An acquisition will have a small effect on an EFT, about 0.3% maximum. Each holding accounts for no more than about 5% maximum of each EFT and that holding would be a very large company that no one could afford to acquire. I can give you some advise though they may not all be the answers to all your questions who have asked. They will however keep you from losing what money you may have to spare to invest. Personally I would not invest a dime in the stock market at the present time. There has been a bunch of manipulations in accounting both corporately and in the coffers of the governement and this country is around 8.6 trillion dollars in debt plus interest , and that interest runs about 281 billion dollars every three months. It you going to invest any money right now you best buy gold and silver bullion physically not an ETF , cause they are selling shorts- precious metal they do not have sometimes because of loaning it out on promissary notes for interest. Now sometimes ETF's can go up in price when companies merge or a buyout occurs. Sometimes such mergers may be a ocasin of buying out a company that already has too much debt. Real Estate is not a good investment right now because the housing market bubble has busted. Sales for example in Florida are down 21% from January this year alone. Some ETF's may pay a dividend , some may not, just like profit sharing plans. I would start out with a couple grand and see what I could do with it in the regard to watching the gold and silver market and buying it when it hits a correction low point and then hang onto it for the long term. Silver bullion was around 4.85 to 5.20 about 12 to 14 months back, now it is 11.15 an ounce. If you had of bought 10 grand of it a year ago you would have made about 25 back by now. Try that in the stock market. 1) Yes. |
