Foreign Denominated Mutual Fund? |
Would it be profitable to invest in a mutual fund that is denominated in a foreign currency ? A fund consisting of securities listed on that foreign stock exchange? Say if the currency were stable and USD conversion is equal to pennies on the dollar? Thanks No one can tell you if an unknown investment will be profitable for you. Even with "stable" currencies you will still have currency risk in a foreign denominated fund. If you are looking for foreign equity exposure, I would suggest finding a US based international fund. Part of the expenses pay for professional currency hedging to minimize the risk of exchange rate changes within the fund. In this way you can have your foreign equity investments without loosing sleep about how the currency markets are doing. |
