Is it a good idea to invest in MSCI US REIT funds for my 401K now?

REIT index funds are down and I am wondering if I should invest a small percentage of my 401K contributions in REIT index funds with the hopes that I will get great returns over the long run. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

I think now is a great time to invest in REITs. You would be investing at a lower price and even if it the value decreases furthur you should be ok since you are investing for retirement and eventually the market will turn around. Also, investing in REITS is a good way to diversify your portfolio investments. I would start with a small amount and as you get more comfortable with REits you should increase your contribution amoutns but the key is to periodically contribute a fixed amount to take of advantage of dollar cost averaging.
