The whole point of mutual funds is that you don't have to convert your $$ at all - they do it for you. For example, Vanguard has a European Stock Index Fund. You invest with $$, they go overseas and buy shares in European companies. Like all Vanguard funds its well run and inexpensive - good for a long term investor.

But foreign funds are a little overrated anyway because most large US companies earn at least a portion of their income abroad and vice versa, so anytime you invest in a large company now you're investing globally, as a rule.

Don't worry about what currency your investments are denominated in, worry about the portions of the market they track.

why go through the hassle of converting to Euros? The bank will give you slightly less than they are worth, while investing your dollars into the mutual fund will give you a one to one ratio. When you go to take your money out, or get paid in dividends..whatever, you will get US money since you are in the US. The conversion just seems that it would be a waste of your money.
