What is the best emerging market fund ETF to invest in right now?...?

Would you invest $2000 of your own money in it? Why or why not?

not an ETF, but a mutual fund; i have the MSIF (morgan stanley institutional fund) emerging markets portfolio (ticker symbol; mgemx) and have gotten >30% per year return every year for the past 3 years (38% last year).

china/india/brazil all continue to be going strong so i have no plans on taking my money out for the next 1 or 2 years, but like anything (especially considering the spectacular returns achieved in recent years) you must be prepared to pull out of them at the first sign of weakness or things will get ugly.

ok now for the right answer. There are two ETF's that will suit yoru needs both cam out recently. The first is CWI and the second is VEU. Both of these ETF's serve only prupose GLOBAL without any US company. And I do mean GLOBAL over 2100 stocks from 40+ different companies. VEU has teh higher share price but lower expenses ad thast why I went with them. In the one month I have owned it it is up 10%.

I spent a good bit of time on www.ishares.com and www.etfconnect.com this morning. Both were very helpful. There are many to choose from. The more investigation I did, the more the answer to your question depends upon which fund you will use to balance the risk.

Having said that, I've had good success with EWZ (currently own shares) in the past. I'd look strongly at Brazil, Hong Kong, and South Africa index funds. Most of this play (the ultimate return) is really a consideration of future foreign exchange movements against the dollar. Low inflation, high real growth, exports growing, and a trading partner not too dependent on the US. Now take you pick.

EWS (Singapore) performing nicely and no reason to doubt the future ( for a year or so)
EWA ( Australia) more of a " developed" status but just loaded with mineral and nat resources companies ( that China is trading with....they're just a " growth giant" for a couple more years.too.)
MXE..a cef .. also riding Mexico's growth..( suprisingly good!)

I really like VGK. It's a European ETF so it's safer then an emerging market but you get the advantage of the strong European economy and the falling dollar. There is a great chance this ETF will beat the S&P 500 this year. It did last year and it's already 5% above the S&P 500 for this year!
