If i was to go into walmart and invest my money into something what would gain value over time?

Hmmm, all I can think of is a piggy bank. And only if you put your loose change in it.

I often ask myself the same question when I'm in Wal-Mart.

Everytime though I default to 3 really good companys:
Proctor & Gamble (PG)
General Electric (GE)
and yes, Wal-Mart (WMT)

I assume you want long term. Pull up a 10 year chart and they all have a nice performance. I currently hold PG and WMT and will do so for the next 10 years.

If you are looking to invest, I'd start with a mutual fund, not an individual stock. Vanguard has a bunch of nice funds with very low fees. Their Star fund is kinda boring but you can get in with $1000. Putnam has very low fees, too.

Nothing. You can't buy consumer goods and expect appreciation of any kind.

Is Walmart selling stocks now? What commissions do they charge? I knew they were trying to start a bank. I did not know they were also doing stocks and bonds.
