What do people mean when they say to invest your money in china?what in china?

For most small investors, investing in China means investing in a mutual fund that concentrates its holding in Chinese companies or investing in shares of Chinese companies traded in the U S markets. There are actually quite a few choices available, some good and some, shall we say, a little speculative.

Among the mutual funds that are available are several closed end funds that are currently trading at very attractive discounts to net assets and a couple of index funds. You can find information on them at this site. Just key in "China" and hit enter under search.

This approach is a little more challenging because it involves having to decide whether the company is a good investment or not but there certainly is no shortage of opportunities.

Even though China is a "young" nation in terms of public business ventures, the Western model of issuing shares of stock to raise capital to run a business is really catching on in China...and though you need to be a Chinese taxpayer to directly hold Chinese stocks, there are plenty of Mutual Funds and Depositary receipts available to enable non-Chinese to invest money in Chinese businesses.

If you have some money to invest for the long-term, it's probably smart to have some in China....You make think Chinese look different, but they are the same as everyone else... They will soon want everything you have, and will find a way to pay for it!

Here's some info on how to do that:
