first u decid if u want to be a short term investor or long term, u have to know about the stock market, industries, read as much as u can about the market u want to invest in, then u have to focus on specific stock and watch them for a while and try to find the trend. start with a small amount of money, but dont put all ur investment in one stock. try to divesify.

if u dont want to bother urself so much ..go to brokers and ask them about the funds they have and get their advice.

to leagally do this u must be 18+

if you are a student then it is risky so u have to be careful with the market trends and have a keen watch on every stock and should have a demat account and a bank account and a pan number and then you can be guided with the website of www.sharekhan.com but remember you have to attened many seminars to read the market and to know when will be the market bullish and be aware of it, and to know who is arbitraters, specualtors etc. so start with a small investment.

share market is a dangerous and wild institution. you don't want to burn your fingers at this early age.

However, the good news is, that there is a term called 'Mutual fund'. am sure u might have heard gread deal about it.
