I want to invest money in Stocks & Shares ISA, would you recommend it? |
I want to invest money in Stocks & Shares ISA, would you recommend it? I would advise it in fact what better time to invest in a stocks and shares ISA. Remember just because it is called a stocks and shares ISA does not mean that you have to invest in stocks and shares. Any asset class can be held in a stocks and shares ISA. Speak to a financial adviser and look at companies such as Sterling, Hagreaves Lansdown etc. These will allow you to invest your money in many different funds depending on the risk that you are prepared to take. If you are cautious do not invest more than 20% of your money in stocks spread the rest amongst fixed interest funds, property funds and Gilt funds. A good independant financial adviser will help you to do this. WHAT!!?? with the stocks and banks all going mental? i wouldnt rite now. No! put it in mini ISA instead. Yes, but not as a lump sum. With the market's present volatility, it is better to do it by instalments. May be better to wait for a few months, though! You could invest in cash ISAs, temporarily; after April 6th, you will have the option to switch freely to stocks and shares ISAs. Yes. If you have sorted out all your other financial commitments.Go to a stockbroker and he should be able to select suitable stocks and ISA wrap them How about a spread of ETFs in an ISA wrapper. MAke sure your tax saving is greater than the charges! Recommending a stocks and shares ISA is not a simple process. Firstly you need to understand if it is appropriate for you in terms of risk and how soon you may want the funds. For instance, if you might need or want the funds within the next couple of years, then a Stocks and Shares ISA is certainly not to be recommended. However, depending on your circumstances, it may be possible to recommend a stocks and shares ISA if you are prepared to take a longer term view i.e. five years before you may need the funds. Nevertheless, at this time in the market cycle and with the market volatility as it is, if you were considering a stocks and shares ISA then it does currently represent a better buying opportunity than three months ago. We are still recommending stocks and shares ISAs to clients who want long term savings, indeed we are positively encouraging them where appropriate. |
