Where could I invest the money that would normally be my refund?

I have heard that it may be better to have no taxes taken out looking for that refund next year, but to rather put the extra money that would have been taken out, and put it somewhere to make more money for you, such as investing. Is there a place I could go to find a list of things that I would like to put my money that would work on an annual basis, like to pull from yearly without getting penalties like an IRA or 401k?

I think you can only have a 401K through your employer. If they don't offer you one, your next best option is to open up a Roth IRA. This type of IRA lets you contribute after tax money into it, where it can grow tax free, and when you withdraw it at retirement time, your withdraws are also tax free.

I'd recommend looking at either fidelity or vanguard to open up your Roth IRA with. They both have a good selection of mutual funds you can invest in. They also both have really good and cheap index funds, which I believe are the best way to invest over the long term.
