Where can I invest money so that I can increase it with a interest rate but have it insured also?

I know a regular cd account can do this but it does it at a real low interest rate... is there any other places that can insure I will get all the money I deposit back? I read some where that there is alternates that can do almost the same as a regular cd account but with a higher interest...

For starters, you get all your deposit back with a CD, only you have to lock it up for a fixed period. You can get pretty short CDs - I know that there are ones that offer 5.5% for 6 months.

You can also try a savings account - once again, I know an online savings account that offers 5% without locking up money. Search online - MSN money has a good search-by-state tool that can give you good comparitive rates on CDs and savings accounts.

Good luck!

Try www.patelco.com they got 5.75% for 8 month CD, not bad at all!

Another way, if you got $25,000 is to open up an account with Allianz and invest it in the Stock Market, its insured and caps your profits (per year) at 36%, if you make more, they keep it, if you LOOSE money, they don't take it away, they take the loss!!! Also, they are giving $2,500 for those that sign up in the next few weeks.....

Best of luck!
