Dollar worthless?

Do you think it is true that within a couple of years the value of the dollar may decrease by 50%? If so what besides property overseas would be good to invest in? Gold?

The US dollar probably will loose some more of its value. But whether it will be as much as 50% is hard to say.

But if you really believe that the US dollar will become cheaper relative to other currencies. Then perhaps the best way to benefit from that is to do some foreign currency trading. You can buy government bonds in British pounds, Euros, and in Yen.

And you can even buy some ETF's that are invested in foreign bonds and currencies.

the only way the dollar would be worth 50% less in that time is if we have 50% inflation in that time. Who says you have to spend money in another country? We have everything we need right here

no, in fact buying EFT's based on the $ now should do well, I'm thinking 15-20% gain between now and the end of the year.

The process is well under way, and once the foreign countries start dumping the dollar it will accelerate. Is it far off? The U.S.is already talking with China to keep them from selling our currency. Many countries could have their currencies collapse also so don't be counting on foreign land to save you. Gold and Silver preserves wealth, it doesn't create it, but that may be the way to go.

Chinese RenMinBi.. the only currency in the world that CANNOT depreciate. I already have more than half my money in a RMB account and have made significant money through the series of RMB gains.

.

The dollar is currently propped up by the Chinese. It will likely fall 50% over the next 2-3 years unless they decouple the yuan in which case it will drop like a rock. Europe is already doing this.

My current investment plan includes oil, gold, solid European stocks and high dividend US stocks. I listed these in order of risk.

In truth in a falling market, no stock is safe and overpriced ones (high price/earnings ratios) will vaporize money the fastest.
