HOW DO I GET RICH?!!!

i'm getting a jobthis summer

need advice:

college, career, investment?

Very vague. What interests you? There is no guaranty you will get rich either. Grades aren't as important as what type of person you are. The world is run by C students and don't forget that. They did studies where they followed the school Valedictorians for 20 years and most of them ended up just middle class. And define what you think rich is? The ability to not have to worry about money and do what you want? Or houses on the French Riviera and yachts of the cost of Monoco? If you want that than you pretty much have to start a business and make it huge. Or become a CEO. Real money is in business....law will only take you so far. The rich politicians are mostly connected to busininess anyways.

Get a good job and invest wisely. Save for the future now like 401K or something.

Borrow alot of money from Bill Gates and never pay him back.

I say get into finances, stock broker, accountant, anything that has to do with money because they pay very well.

find a job you feel comfortable with. something that makes you happy. if you are happy, you will succeed. like helping people? become a psychologist. like to bring peace? become a lawyer.

No one can guarantee you what kind of job is going to make you rich. Being rich isn't desriable, being happy is. I suggest you work very hard in high school and choose the kind of career that interests you the most.

It depends on how rich you want to be and why you want to be rich. To some people, being rich just means never being poor. They would consider themselves rich if they always had $10,000 in the bank. Some people would not consider themselves rich unless they had at least $100 million.

If you just want to never be poor, get a job that depends on you, in a company that's not likely to ever have serious problems such as loss of market share etc.

A job that depends on you would be one where your knowledge is needed and the company would not do as well if you were gone or replaced.

On the other hand, if by rich you mean very rich, such as $100,000,000 or more, then you should ask yourself what you plan to do with that money, and find a job where you can do that as part of the job, so the company would provide the money with no need for you to be that rich.

Or if your real reason for wanting to be rich is to not have to suck up to a boss, you can go into business for yourself, and find a way to make your business reliably successful.

More than 200 years ago Robert Burns wrote a lot of poems giving us a lot of wisdom about our personal lives. Here is an excerpt from one:

To catch dame fortune's golden smile
Assiduous wait upon her
And gather gear by every wile
That's justified by honor
Not for to hide it in a hedge
Nor for a train attendant
But for the glorious privilege
Of being independent.

One of the posters below mentioned that the world is run by C students. But that's a fallacy. The world is run by random people, of whom more happen to be C students than A, because more of the general population are C students than A. But, to be reliably rich, you're far better off being an A student. Some C students are rich and some are poor. Fewer A students are poor.

To some people, being rich simply means having more income than you need. There are two ways to accomplish that. The most obvious way is to earn more, till you have more than you need. The other way is to need less, till you need less than you have. For example, there are some cities in the USA where a nice house only costs a small fraction of what it costs in some other cities. Anyone who has a limited amount of reliable income, that doesn't depend on commuting to a job, could move there, and become rich, by suddenly having more than needed, without actually changing the amount of income.

Start investing in a ROTH IRA ASAP. As for your career, follow your passion and the money will follow.

"A smart investor who begins funding his IRA at a younger age will always win the accumulation game. Consider a 21-year-old IRA owner who invests $4,000 per year to a traditional IRA until he is 65 (actual contribution will be $180,000). Assuming a 6% yield, the investor will accumulate $902,025 by age 65. Compare that to an older IRA investor who contributes $4,000 per year from age 40 until age 65 (actual contribution will be $104,000). The older IRA owner will accumulate $250,820. What a staggering difference time makes!"
If you start out at 16, you'll be loaded. I started out at 15 with a ROTH and its going to provide quite the nest egg.
Good Luck!

Your on the rite track by thinking about it early on. First decide what interests you, that makes learning it easier. And go from there. Once you do find a path, start interning in that field now, network network network. It beefs up your resume and helps you get a better gig and faster raises down the line.

plan on being in school for a loooooong time.

i agree with *confused* an accountant or stock broker

I asked my Dad the same question and his advise was to find someone rich to marry
other than that your education is the best investment you can make Find someone you respect and look up to and emulate them. Find A mentor in your chosen field to ease your journey And keep in mind that being rich isn't really about money ;Being rich from within,a life filled with love and joy that is the true wealth.

It is not what you know... but who you know. Get it to a great ivy league school and you will graduate with some great and powerful friends. Then off to grad school... work hard and make lots of friends.

It depends. Why do you want to be rich?

If it is because you would like to live in a mansion and have lots of "stuff", then I do not have any useful advice.

If you want to be rich because you like power, then I will refrain from giving advice.

If you would like to be rich because you want security and options, then here is my advice:

1) Read (or listen to) "The Millionaire Next Door" by Thomas J. Stanley.

2) Improve your public speaking, presentation and communication skills. Acquire skills that allow you to deal with difficult people.

3) Most people limit their career because they fail to realize the importance of credibility. What is credibility? Why is it important? How do I get it? These are all questions you should start finding answers to early in your career.

i don't really care what you do with your life. but if you want to be really rich and are 16, then i advise you become a pro invester.

since you're young(aka minor), you can still get backups from practically everywhere. the thing is, if you want to invest, i advise you to start slowly. observe the market and learn the reasons why something happened. why it grew, why it fell etc. if you become good enough, you'll be able to make good money without doing anything.

tried and true, but first you need to learn how to anticipate it.
