Choosing a bank?

I am looking for a bank so I can open a cd account. What are a few basic things I should look into so that I know I am making the good and safe investment. Any help is appreciated.

and anyway, i'd go wit WaMu, heard they have the greatest custumer service. and i would not go with Chase because their service really sux!!! i dont have them, my mom does but cuz i called for her a few times and their service sucked so bad. one of the representative was rude as hell.

Neither a good or safe or even an investment at all. Will lose purchasing power against taxes and inflation guranteed. Don't fool yourself that it is safe or smart to buy a cd. If you insist then all you need to care is that bank has FDIC insurance which almost all do.
