New to investments and I don't know where to go to get help.? |
My parents did most of my investments thought American Express investments. I don't know where to start. I am worried if I go somewhere I won't know what kind of account (s) to put it in. I'm 24 and starting a new full time job, and would like to start saving for a house w/boyfriend and eventually retirement. I just don't want to get sucked into something that I dont need. First, if you're starting a new job and it has matching 401 funds, put in the minimum to obtain the match. This is free money and should be taken. don't invest in anything unless it is a growth stock or fund with a ten year record. Check out Dave Ramsey online, he is the only person I listen to for that stuff. well ameriprize (american express investments) is where you would want to start talk to whoever your parents agent is. They will take the time to listen to you and make suggestions. Start there and then ask others for their advice (edward jones raymond james etc...) Here's a page for finding a good good mutual fund to invest in: |
