Are IRAs (US) or ISAs (UK) (retirement accounts) subject to inheritence tax? |
Are retirement accounts that are based on tax free fund investment (which are then taxed upon withdrawal of the money) subject to inheritence tax? i was told that the account was not considered part of the estate...? or is it only not considered part of your estate wrt to the will, not tax? USA - they are NOT a part of the estate for estate tax purposes. ISAs are...don't know about American stuff but if you are a UK resident then your worlwide assets I believe are subject to inheritance tax. Yes, IRA's would be in the US. depends on if its a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA. Roth IRA's have already had the Tax paid on them, traditional IRA's do not. |
