Is accounting a sub catergory of finance?

If I want to know all about money should I major in finance or accounting? Do accountants learn about investments? Or should I just double major so I can know everything about money? Which is more interesting accounting or finance? Also which is the most benefecial? What I'm really interested is investments but I also want to learn about taxes, what should I major in?

Simply put, accounting is more about measuring and counting money. Finance is more about where to get money, how much money costs and what is the best use for the asset.
There are areas in which the disciplines over lap. I have studied both disciplines and find topics I like and not so like in each. Read the articles linked below. Accountants do learn about investments though not to the degree a finance major will learn.

I have a finance degree and wish I had an accounting degree. I think you will understand finance and securities with an accounting degree. If you want to be a securities dealer then get the finance degree. I think an accounting degree will lead to more opportunities. Good luck.
