If you are not specifically expecting an email, then just ignore it and delete it. Banks never send you anything like this through email, because there are so many scams based around banking its a rule they never break. They will never ask you for any personal details through email.
The best rule for these thing is that you have the smallest idea its a scam, or feel you need to ask, then its definately a scam :-) Absolutely 100% a scam. Don't do it. Tell me you're not actually thinking this is true. Scams like this have been around for a long time. Follow through if you like, but be prepared to lose any money you put into it.
Remember: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. 100% SCAM Its a scam. It if sounds too good to be true then in probably is. my scam-o-meter is spinning in circles! Total scam. Be wary of anyone that solicits you to send confidential information online. Besides, any reputable bank would be able to avoid their own webmaster and website, and wouldn't need to a "create a free site" company to manage it for them.
It's a very convincing look, and they even provide a street address, so I give them credit for good effort... but you would remember entering yourself in any "lottery", and any reputable lottery would contact you directly, not through a bank you've never heard of.
Don't give them any information, and demand a written copy of their annual report - any legitimate financial company would have an annual report for their investors. This is what is known as a 'advanced fees transaction' (Aft) scam. where you are requested to forward funds in the belief that you will receive more moneys in return. Avoid at all costs and if you wish report to your local police. They will pass this on to the various departments who deal with this type of fraud on your behalf. |
