Closing an investment account?

What is considered as account closed? If for example i buy stocks through an online broker and sell my stocks, does that mean my account is closed? Or is it closed when i withdraw all my money? Also, are there any fees associated with closing the account permanently?

Some accounts have fees for closing the account, some don't. The only way to know for sure is ring up the company and ask if they have fees.

An account can still be open if it has no money and no stocks in it. It is not considered closed until you've sent them a written request to close it and they confirm they've done it.

No it is not considered close, you should inform your brokers of your intention to close your investment account and follow their procedures on how to close your account.

different brokers may have different procedures in closing of account
