Stock Market takes a Nose Dive. Anyone else concerned?

I'm watching my investments languish. If the news is good; the market goes down because of inflation fears. Is the news is bad; the market goes down because of consumer sentiment. I think I should have headed the "Sell In May and Go Away" advice. Your thought?

I wouldn't panic yet. The market will always have its peaks and valleys. I would think most investors are probably still up year-to-date. I did re-adjust my portfolio and sold some individual stocks and bought into some diversified etf's and closed end funds. You know, to lessen the volatility.

Don't panic......you only gain or lose if you sell.......Get rich slowly...

Nothing to worry about. Well, not in the market, anyway.

If you understand economics, and watch government policy, you can see that Washington is truly feeding the inflation monster, and even if we don't play the game that analysts do, it is reasonable to assume that inflation will become a problem at some point. That said, it doesn't make all stocks losers. The key is to diversify internationally, and keep from having all your eggs in one basket. It always amuses me how people that are so careful to seek safety by diversifying industries, often put all their money in one country. Remember this: just cuz you live here doesn't mean it's safer. There are many economies that may well be stronger in the coming years. Spread your money around.

But, the bigger picture is this: you'll never win in the stock market by buying high and selling low. Market drops are the time you should think about getting IN, not OUT.

i'm watching every day...but i figure if i'm earning more than a savings account i'll let it ride. the market is doing better than my antique sales at the mall

Yes, I am very concerned. I have $100,000 portfolio to worry about. Thank for asking! I read on the Stock Trader Almanac about Sell in May and Go Away. It is work in the past, but the markets right now are not the same like in the past. Lately, I am raising some cash, and move to the sideline until the markets settle down.

Many predicting this months. The problem is it took more time then normal. But no one can predict exact peaks. Read this website to have some contraries opinion.

I think we r still gonna c some more downside. If you have ne position n the company is good..i mean fundamentally, then hold on..if u r thinking of taking a new position, i would suggest wait a while. Good Luck

The reality is that the market will probably keep heading down for the next couple of months. Keep for a few years. You shouldn't expect more then 15% a year unless you have some information you would like to share.

Looks like your 'perfect timing' was a little off. I really wouldn't worry about the market's current condition though. ; )
