I'm buying a toll booth on the Mass Pike & other states. Some advice please?

Always thinking of investment opportunities and this time I have a home run. Buying a toll booth is a CAN'T LOSE endeavor. I'm sure it is going to cost a pretty penny to buy one, however, the return on the investment will be through the roof. Cars lined up to give you money - you just can't go wrong.

I will make my toll lane / booth the cleanest. Also will place bright neon lights on my booth to attract more cars to my lane. Even thinking of running 1/2 off for Chevy's one day, perhaps 1/2 off Fords the next, etc. Lollipops for the kids, attractive woman collecting the money -The promotion possibilities are endless.

For my question, which branch of government do I contact to inquire about buying a toll booth? I'm pretty sure some are run by states but also think some are run federal. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks very much.

Funny.

Silly wording to your question, but this is a real business. States and cities all across the nation are selling infrastructure including toll roads, bridges and lotteries. You are right that there is a long revenue stream associated with these acquisitions but there is a cost to operate and a cost to maintain the assets. Typically buyers are paying a very high multiple of annual cash flow with the expectation that the annuity stream will pay off at some point in the future. Updating the system to get higher usage is one thing that many tollroads are doing (ez pass or speedpass systems mean that you don't have to wait in line to use the road). Dicscounting is being used by the holders of the ez pass as well. I have not heard of any programs around type of car or special promotions for children. Hope this helps.
