Worst Investment Mistake You Ever Made?!?

A stock? Selling too early? Getting bad advice?!?

Yikes, I hate to admit it, but I bought Lucent at 51 in March 2000, and it went steadily down from there.

I have been told time and time and again that index funds are the best way to go...I currently invest in balanced funds through Fidelity, but I'm looking to diversify a little bit.

The best investment is always real estate....

Worst investment mistake I made was not starting sooner!

I was looking to buy gamestop stock in 06 when it was at $25. since then, it's split and gone up the high 40s.

Ah well. there's another million dollar deal everyday, you just to know how, where, and when to look for them.

I sold on ebay for 5 years.

Riding a stock called Omnivision from 12 to 31, and then back to 12 (though its bounced back to 20...)

There have been so many, I can not recall them all. One of the most recent was buying World Com.

Because of a computer mishap, I missed the BIDU IPO..( and had been waiting for it) ...once it got to the 80's and 90's I gave up on it.... gotta be over 200 now!

Not selling everything before April 10, 2000. I watched $200,000 become $40,000. Not fun.

Years ago, I purchased stock in a company my son worked for. They were in the Internet industry. Things were really going great as the stock value went up. The stock price started going down. My son indicated things were great at the company. The stock price was still continued downward. I was hoping the stock would go back up. It should go back up. The company was doing good according to their reports. The company then filed for bankruptcy. The stock was worthless. I lost my investment.

Here are the two biggest mistakes you can make:

(1) Invest a few bucks, lose a bunch of it, conclude that you will never be able to learn the market, turn your back and run away.

(2) Invest a few bucks, make a nice profit, conclude that you are a "natural", bet the farm, lose it all, turn your back and run away.

So, do you play golf? No? Do you think you could learn, given time and preserverance and patience and a few lost balls? Get good enough at it that you would like the game? Well, then the stock market is waiting for you. Same technique.
