High School Investment Club...?

Hey!
I was planning on starting a high school investment club and was just looking for general advice. I already have an advisor but was looking for well...tips/ideas. What competitions we could enter, how to attract members etc.,

Hi kid you certainly are diverse in your interests and show alot of initiative. Keep it up. Our investment club IIRC would meet once a week. We all selected portfolios of our own choosing using the TSE or in your case NYSE. We all started with $XXXX to invest and we evaluated weekly to see who was leading and by how much. Those that wanted to trade their stocks could and we would use real bid ask pricing.

We also had the 1st choice award which assumed that you held your first portfolio to the end of the semester who would be worth the most. Taught some of use the concept of buy and hold.

Semester ending Pizza Party which the teacher paid for.
We would have a small blurb read out during morning announcements inviting new members. Also the teachers could mention it to their business or finance or math or accounting classes to drum up interest.

On a larger scale I guess we could have tried to organize a city wide competition with other schools wanting to participate using a common set of rules and then at the end of the semester had a multi school assembly or maybe just shared the results to see which school was winning and who was the top student on a weekly basis.
