What qualifications are needed to work at Goldman Sachs? |
I am about to commence a law degree at oxford in october 2007, and was wondering whether invesmtnet banking firms like Goldman Sachs look for a set range of A-Levels and degrees for their employees? What kind of prospects would by degree offer me in the investment banking world? They don't ask for specific degrees but see science degrees like mathematics, economics and engineering an advantage as investment banking is very numbers orientated. If you graduate from Oxford, then you are at least guaranteed easier access in obtaining an interview with them as they are very picky. It depends what kind of work you want to do - many will look for an economics-related degree. In general, a higher degree such as an MBA will stand you in good stead in the world of finance no matter what your first degree is in. It would also be a good idea to get some work experience in that field, too. maybe a finance degree of some sort - i have a tenant who works at Goldman Sachs - Good company to get into as the pay is fantastic not to mention the bonuses!! - try their website, it has a recruitment section with all of their current and upcoming vacancies in the UK and abroad - it will also tell you what they as an employer are looking for, and what experience/qualifications you will need!! Why Goldman? Just because they annouced big bonuses? Do you know ANYTHING about them? |
