How would you percieve this?

My first job out of college was for a very large investment bank. I left that job and went to another company. It has been almost eight years, and two weeks ago I interviewed at the company I first worked for. They said I am elegible for re-hire, talked about my benefits and salary etc.. They are a very large company so they outsource their recruiting. The recruiter told me she spoke with the managers, and they said my interview went very well and they would hopefully be making a decision in a few days. The recruiter also told me that if they were interested I would hear from the company directly. Has anyone else had the exerperience that they were set up via a recruiter (not a headhunter) but an internal recruiting agency that was seperate from the company, and got an offer from the company itself? I have never heard of that, I was under the impression the recruiter would handle the offer. Does this sound promising or is it a brush off?

I should add that when I worked for this company before they made pretty quick hires.

How did you leave the first time? With notice and professional? Or bad-mouthing and quit showing up?

If you left well, you may be fine.

As for the recruiter not extending the offer, that really depends, she could be brushing you off nicely, or the hiring manager may want to be the bearer of good news. I have worked with both types of managers so it is hard to tell without speaking to other hires in that department.

Congratulations to you! And thx for the best answer Report It

Yes, I've heard. Not sure how it works though. I'm thinking that since you were a previous employee, the recruiter would not be eligible to contract you per the contract between company and recruiter. So, you default to the company itself. Sounds promising. Good luck!

The company may have some kind of a clause in their recruiting contract about rehires.

Since I'm sure they are paying a commission for each employee that is hired through the agency (much like temp agencies) ...but if you are a rehire, they knew you before the recruiter did...so they may just take it over and avoid the fee...

To me it sounds like a good thing.

Good Luck!

***CONGRATULATIONS!
