If a job applicant...?

omits skills or degrees on an application, for example if a Secretary at an investment bank had a Series 7 License or a member of the cleaning staff at an auto plant had an advanced engineering degree, would it be considered a fire-able act once found out?

As far as I know I think you can be fired for saying you have a qualification that you don't but not vice versa.

.

Many people omit qualifications that do not apply to the job they are seeking. There is nothing wrong with doing that. In fact, it is advisable to do it because many employers tend to read too much into someone being "over-qualified" for a position.

It is not a fire-able act.

You will not get in trouble for listing job experiences or skills that do not pertain to the job for which you are an applicant. As you get older you will have many more skills and experiences that have nothing to do with the job you now do.

If you exaggerate your skills, experiences, or your education; or you lie about crimes you were convicted of, those are "fireable" offenses.
