Getting Back to Ex-employer?

2 months back I left my ex-employer (a retail Bank). I moved to Investment Bank in a new country. Now my ex-employer is calling me and I wanna leave the current job and get back to him. How can I approach my current employer and tell him I just couldn't make it overhere.

Before you do ANYthing, think: why did I leave my old job at the retail bank? What did I expect to get out of my new job (in I-banking) that I was not getting at the old job? My point is, you may be dissatisfied in your new job or you may be homesick, but you may simply be exchanging one set of problems for another if you go back to your old job. If you DO decided to go back, simply call up your old boss and say, "This job is not what I expected it to be, and I am wondering whether there are opportunities for me to come back to at XYZ Bank...", something like that. No shame in being honest about the situation. D

I assume you have no contract with your new employer that wold keep you from quitting.

So talk to him and explain why you want to leave. Offer to give reasonable notice to finish any project you may working on. Thank him for giving you the opportunity. And leave graciously.

tell him you are homesick.
