City Trader?

Whats the best way to go to become a city trader.

I currently finishing an economics finance and banking degree....I have done an internship for 1 year in an investment bank. What next though? which qualifications would help me most? Would a Charteredt Finance Analyst qualification be worth it?

Hello

The usual route in is through grad schemes, if you have an internship you are well ahead of the pack. Especially if it went well and was with a well recongised bank. Also have a look at efinancialcareers.com as there are lots of good things on there. If you know exactly where you want to go next then maybe further qualifications can help you, but Inv Banking is a big area and it might be better to rotate through a few departments first - this is another advantage of the grad scheme route. Even being a "Trader" can mean lots of things depending on what you trade (commodities / bonds / shares etc etc) so it's worth getting more experience before specialising further in my opinion.

Best to talk to firms which have Trader jobs and find out from them what they want.

It sounds like you will have sufficient qualifications to start working for a Trade firm
