Mutual fund. There's a bunch you can choose from. Just go ask a financial advisor, they'd be happy to explain them all to you.

Hi there, just to clarify some points first, in every business or investment there'll be risk, the level of risk just differ according to the type of business or investment you choose.

As to a good sound investment, first thing that you should take into consideration is what kind of investments are you familiar or have knowledge with, then from there you choose the best or most likely profitable. Some might have a higher risk than others but it is also an indication that it can give you better profit. With that, you lessen the chances of putting your money into something that might be profitable for most but would not work for you since you don't know of.The risk is in investing into something you know nothing of and don't know how to do.Don't invest in something just because others are investing in it.

As to particulars, if you know how to start a home-based business(if you just want to do it part-time), that's better than just putting your money somewhere or letting others handle it for you. If you don't like stocks then ask around and look for fund managers/asset management companies since they are the ones who can manage your money better and can give you assurance to the returns, they can give you higher return than banks.

best option is look for a partner who is also looking to invest or find someone who really knows how to handle investments.just always ask for transparency as to how the money will be used.always know where they will be investing/using your money.your instincts will always work best for you.
i hope i have given you some good advice...i'll continue this answer...i just need to go now

There is no risk free investment. The closest things are bank savings accounts and CDs, which are federally insured, & government bonds (if you have absolute faith in the ability of the government to live up to its financial obligations).

If you don't want to go with bank CD then sounds like bonds or money market fund (which consist of very low-risk bonds and other safe investments) are your best options. However, CD returns can be competitive with these options, so if you're as risk-averse as you sound you may want to reconsider about using CDs. With CDs, the longer you commit your money the higher return they offer.
