If you do not go to an Ivy League School, do you think it is possible to get an investment banking job? |
How about management consulting? ABSOLUTELY! Even if you did go to an Ivy League school, you would still need to start somewhere. Your best bet is to get your foot in the door by finding an investment vehicle sales job (look for one with a good base salary, and preferably one of the larger investment firms). It may take time to build your resume, but it is worth it in the long run. Absolutely!!!! There is no reason that an individual needs an ivy league education in order to be successful in ANY field. This is a common misconception, but you definitely don't need to graduate from one of the eight ivys in order to have a productive and beneficial future. Yes it is. People with almost any background can be seen in any major investment bank. Including people with no degree who get paid big money, and not only as traders. It is mostly about being patient, being reasonably smart and doing what it takes to get the job, ie prepare well for interviews. Management consulting jobs are generally easier to get, but then, it all depends on what job we are talking about. I went to a state school, but also interned every single summer and even during every semester of college. from being an ops analyst, to financial analyst to cold caller @ a ny private stock brokerage firm....just bust ure *** in the lower jobs in the industry get ure feet wet, and get ure skin THICK. then learn how to pitch a sale, i mean pitch yourself. |
