Does anyone know what a person must do to get into investment banking with no real job skill in the field?

You could literally get in the phonebook and call some ask them whatever you want to know. Or just to all the places that think you'd like to work and apply for secretarial, receptionist, runner, and auditing positions. I started working for a Mortgage and Title Company about 6 months ago with no training. I was hired to do all of the things that I mentioned above. Doing these things have taught me so much. I have recently been offered a position as a loan processor which will in turn, give me the knowledge and experience to be a loan originator. Just get into a bank most will have positions that require little education and once you're there just show that you have a real drive to move up and do well. Some areas will require a certain level of education in any feild, but once you've done well with a company they may be willing to invest in you further and pay for some or all of any education that you lack.

no, sorry.

get an insurance license. to even try to start in the field

No and anyone I used for investment banking better have some education and experience.

You need to start at the bottom and learn the profession. That means you work for an investment bank but you may be only a clerk. Nothing wrong with learning your way up the ladder.

You need at least a bachelor degree in finance. Don't forget, you are dealing with clients' money.

go seek local businesses and ask them. They would know best. Obviously you need to know a bit as you would be handling other peoples money. Most financial service reps are certified

No real job skills...Investment banking? Well not everybody at NASA is a PHD genius so I guess you could start at the bottom as in Janitor and and pretty much stay there for a long time. ;-)

Schooling is your best bet! Education, education, and then, education. Student loans are not hard to get, and you can do anything you are interested in if you have the motivation. Nobody is ever to old to be educated, and funds are not an excuse when there are tons of scholarships and student loans to choose from. I have heard of some people who found jobs through friends as stock brokers, but that was "back in the day". Today with the liability, not many banks would hire without a degree and experience.

staffing agencies/ temp. agencies- there are some good ones that will be able to help out in the specific field... you jus need a resume(no experience is required) they will give you a couple tests to decide how or where to place u, and as long as you dont have like any felony's or criminal record then thats ur best bet

get an MBA from either of the three schools: HBS, Wharton, or Stanford. Major in finance, take a summer job in a bulge-bracket investment bank. Graduate with distinction or the top 10% of your class. And, you're on your way!

Scientist? for you just a pretty strong desire.
Other.
Books , study, focus, action. Personable skills.Later, connections ,and always a lot of creativity.
