Is it possible to move from operations to middle office smoothly within Investment banking?

operations is not dead end contrary to what the person below says,if you are good then you will get on. it doesnt matter what title you have, its about how much cash you take home!

I have worked for Merrill Lynch, Barcap, Abn amro and ING, if you want to move into middle office you need to do some networking, I have seen alot of people move from ops to middle office, and the main criteria is that you are good at what you do.

besides many middle office jobs are no longer on the trading floor.

It's very difficult... I've seen it done before, but under extenuating circumstances. Ops is generally considered a dead-end job, and it doesn't afford very many attractive exit opportunities.
