I am a college student. is investment banking a good idea or will i be signing my life away?

As a career... It depends.

Well my cousin is an analyst at Deutsche bank and the way she describes it is hell... She wakes up at 8:00AM and comes home from work at least from 12:00 midnight and often her work hour goes into 3:00, 4:00am... There are instances where the employees had o stay overnight at the office and I heard that my cousin got just 5 hours sleep in 3 days... At times she would go to bed at 4:00AM and then her boss would call her and tell her she had to go to work half an hour later.

Well, it depends on which position and company... I don't know if the higher level positions are this demanding though.
