How Is "Corporate Banking" Different From "Investment Banking"??? Corporate banking deals with the banking needs for companies while investment banking looks at the investment world ... shares, futures etc. Corporate banking services revolve around lending (or say treasury services), while investment banks help companies raise money by issuing securities, or they may provide advisory services on mergers, acquisitions and other investments. Most investment banks also engage in activities that are not strictly considered investment banking - trading, private equity, etc. Investment banking is concerned with trading of securities and derivatives products, e.g. equities (i.e. shares), bonds, foreign currency, options, forwards, swaps, etc. Corporate banking, which is often part of the same division in a bank, is concerned with lending and other credit products for businesses, usually of an incorporated nature and fairly large. www.finysis.net provides some useful e-books and software explaining what businesses do and how to analyze them. |
