Investment banking.......... part 2?

i know i should spend my time on school work, but if i need to work what jobs should i get, (while in college), that would help with me later on when i become an investment banker.

A summer analyst position would be great for the summer and can get you contacts at top firms. Most of these are about ten weeks and pay the same as a regular analyst position would.

I remember that you said something about being a bank teller. Something like that would not help you because it is commercial banking versus investment banking. If you need to work I suggest finding a job where you can work few hours so that it is not to much work for you.

As far as jobs during the school year that will help you for investment banking there are not really any that i can think of. You can search for firms in your area and go to them asking for a position but that might be tough.

One thing I have done before is I had a job at a small store, and asked the owner to let me do the accounting/finance. He kind of showed me what I needed to do and I picked it up. Something like that may look good.

John, One of my good friends kids while going to college for business/finance got internships with investment firms and both ended up getting hired by them when they graduated. They are close to wall street, wherever you are, consider working getting internships at biggest banks/brokerage firms near or affiliated with your school.

After spending four years of my life in investment banking and being laid off due to the credit crunch I have a few words of advice. You must be able to work extraordinary hours, endure repetitive work that a high schooler could do, have thick skin and be content with no social life. The flip side is you make a lot of money and never have enough time to spend it all. On to landing your dream job: get a good internship, quote lines from WallStreet and network.
