How much would a VP within Investment banking get in Operations OR middle office? also director and partner?

Salary and bonuses for Investment banking back and middle office

The poster before me seemed to [incorrectly] answer how much bankers make; not how much ops guys make.

To answer your question, VPs w/in ops will generally make 150-200k salary, with minimal bonus (10-15k).

Directors/MDs will make maybe 200-250k with roughly the same bonus. It's not possible for an MD to pull in 1mil in ops; MDs in front office can do this because their bonus is directly dependent on how much business they generate; within ops, it's a relatively fixed structure.

Operations is a relatively dead-end job, and difficult to transition into a front-office position. It's also tough to climb the ranks, because senior ops people tend to do ops for life... the poach, burnout, and jump rates are much lower, as people have no [financial] incentive to jump to a different shop... headhunters won't be contacting ops guys anytime soon.

Analysts make 150k USD a year at bulge brackets after bonus, associates make 220k. VPs are the next step up, and can reasonably make 260k a year. Sales would probably make the least, and prop traders can make far more than that. Directors and partners differ among firms. MDs (managing directors) can easily pull down 1M or more.
