Entry level job at investment banking?

Hi, I'm a finance major senior at state school in NY (it's a low-tier school), I have and 2.8 gpa. My goal is to enter the investment banking world. Given my dubious academic background what do you guys think is the best way I can get into that industry.
I'll be 26 when i graduate. I was thinking of getting my MBA after getting 4 or 5 years experience in banking then apply to a ibanking firm. I'll be in my 30's by then. I have heard that that is too old to be an analyst. Not sure what to do
any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

You need to take classes that you can do well in. Networking with your alumni can help in getting you up to speed on recruiting. If can't get a spot in an investment bank, try consulting, or business development.

You'll need a good story about your GPA and have already taken classes that support your interest in investment banking.

Can you tell me what investment banking is, what an analyst does, and why you are interested? (Send me an email or direct message)

Given the current market environment, you are unlikely to find a quality investment banking position straight from undergraduate (with a mediocre GPA from a low-tier school). I would recommend that you try to find an interesting and challenging position outside of investment banking initially - you could try something like corporate lending or probably better something outside of banking altogether (perhaps something that would provide overseas experience or provide you strong vertical expertise). After 3-4 years of success, then you can try to get admitted to a quality MBA program (needs to be one that has success in placing students in investment banks). As an MBA graduate, you can then look for an associate position with an investment bank (which is one step up from analyst).

Regardless, before you embark upon such a plan, you need to make sure that you understand the investment banking industry and why you want to enter into it (need a better reason than purely for the money as it can burn you out quickly).
