Can posting relative news be concidered spamming?

Recently I made several investments. I made ivestments in InterChange.com, inwhich became Local.com, and SearchGuy.com. I found an article stating that InterChange.com and SearchGuy.com formed a partnership amongst other things. When I post the article link, the new SearchGuy.com entrepreneur contacted me regarding me spamming and costing the company $1,200. Was I spamming when I posted only to the company's message boards of INCX (LOCM) and SHGY.PK?

Spamming is defined as sending unsolicited electronic information for the purpose of making a profit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(elect...

If I'm understanding correctly, you have duplicated a piece of public information on the Internet (a public forum). It is NOT a spam if it is pure informational. However, for example, someone created a rumor about a company that is having trouble and thus causing the stock price to go down while shorting the stock can be considered a spammed.

To consider whether your posting was a spam, we would need to examine what was your intend of posting the message. If you didn't profit, then you are in the clear.

On the other hand, even if you weren't spamming any thread of legal action is enough to cause you a temporary higher blood pressure. Next time, consider whether it is worth the trouble.

Best wishes.

I don't think it's spamming. If you want to share this news join an investors group, and share this news and be rewarded with other informative news. It wasn't right he accused you, he didn't want free information getting about.

Yes, you were spamming.

Perhaps you need to look up "spamming"?

You might also want to be VERY careful what you say about any publically-traded company in a public forum. There are lawyers EVERYWHERE!
