How can I locate Tandy Corp Stock that I purchases 30 years ago.?

30 years ago I worked for Tandy Corp and purchased stocks through my employment. After leaving the company I moved several times and no longer receive statements. How do I find out about my misplaced investment?

The transfer agent for the company would be able to trace your ownership. Remember, Tandy went through a name change to Radio Shack in May 2000 so it is the transfer agent for "Radio Shack" that you need to contact. Here is the contact for you:

Good luck!

Great point that Doreen_M raises. There is a website that provides you the ability to reclaim your stock if it did become unclaimed. Here it is:

http://www.missingmoney.com/

There is no need to pay a fee for this service. As this site describes: The states have implemented active outreach programs designed to reunite unclaimed property owners with their lost or forgotten assets. To enhance the states' outreach efforts, MissingMoney.com, a national database, was established in November 1999 and is the only database endorsed by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA). MissingMoney.com enables owners to perform comprehensive searches for lost assets required by law to be turned over to the states.

E-mail the Tandy Corporation or go to their site. If the info is not there, make the investment of time and call their "Investor Relations" Department or a similarly named department. They should have [or should be able to direct you to] the documentation and the procedure you need to follow.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Yes, that is my real last name!

Contact Tandy. They will put you in touch with the transfer agent . They can look you up and you can file for lost certificates. This will come with a fee though. It will be a several month process too.

Depending on what State you live in, you may have fallen victim to the old 'unclaimed property' issue as well. Typically if a transfer agent cannot contact you within five (5) years they are mandated by law to turn all assets in your name over to that states unclaimed assets division.

So if it's been more than 5 years you may want to check with your own states unclaimed assets division before you contact the transfer agent. Chances are that's who has your stock :)

The upside of that is that there is no charge for you to reclaim that asset, simply filing the proper forms with the state.

Use a search engine and type in your states name followed by the words unclaimed property division and you can find the contact information there.

Good luck!
