Nervous for new job?

I have been working for the same company for 6 years in IT,
i work with a team of 6, I am in the process of getting a new job that will pay me double, i will work with another IT guy but it will be in a investment company with crazy people wanting there computers fixed lol, im scared and nervous, it will be a jump in my career.right now i get home at 4pm. and my new job I will be getting home at 6-7p.m. i am single with no kids.
should i be worried ? what should i do

any change is scary but focus on all the postive things this opportunity will bring you. after a little time in the new position, you will be just fine :) best of luck in your career

Figure out what will be different about your new job that bothers you or will affect you. Then think of solutions or ways around the problem. If you feel prepared, you will be less nervous

you should'nt worry..jump into the job w/ all your vim and vigor and kick ***. you're better off impressing on the get go, and being tentative/nervous will not help you do that..

good luck..and yah investment firms are very high stress/fast pace etc..

def go for it! and if youre worried about meeting someone...you never know who'll youll be running into on your life's path. Dont be afraid to move forward!

Don't be worried. With no spouse and no kids, this is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try new things with your career. You're nervous because it's new and you don't know what it's going to be like or if you're even going to like it. Everyone is at least a little bit scared of the unknown. By the end of the first day, you'll be feeling much better. You'll have met some people and you'll have a much better of idea of what the job entails. Give it a try. Even if this job in particular doesn't work out, it could lead to the job of a lifetime for you. You just never know ...

Make sure you have done everything you can ahead of time to make the transition easier. Key points:
Diet: Eat healthy now, and make sure you have lots of "quick" meals in the freezer to eat when you come home tired. DO NOT start eating junk food when you're already stressed and tired, or you can get sick!
Exercise: Start or continue a routine, but make it fit with what your schedule will be, not what it is now. IE: If you come home at 4 and go to the gym at 5, find out if the gym is open late enough, and start going at 8 instead. Get your body used to change as much as possible before hand.
CBT: Look up Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Proceed with a "distorted thoughts" worksheet to find out what you really are worried about.

It is normal to be nevus most people are going in to a new job. But if you stay where you are for the rest of your life you might be comfortable but you will never learn anything new or feel challenged. There is nothing like starting new and for more money. GO FOR IT.

Just worry about one thing: allowing the fear of the unknown to prevent you from welcoming an opportunity that will provide some financial freedom (in exchange for more responsibility) and a chance to make advancements in your career. The general rule in life is, we have to give up something to get something. In your situation, you will give up predictability in exchange for a more demanding position where you will learn and grow.
Also, staying at the same job for too long can be viewed by some employers just as negatively as a job-hopping. The concern is that the person isn't expanding his skills, or lacks motivation.

Welcome this new path in your career as opportunity to accept new challenges and move forward.
