If someone is registering a new corporation (Inc.) - is it enough to register a number or should he register a

name for the company too? I know registering a name is not mandatory just an option but my question is is there any benefit from registering a name as well even if the company does not deal with public (as it is a real estate investment company) ?

It has to have a name.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Where are you registering this corporation? Or are you actually incorporating an existing business? A corporation is a separate legal entity, and must have it's own name.

If you have not registered the name, you have not registered the company.

If you ever need to prove you are the president/owner of the company, even to open a bank account, how will you do so unless you registered the name?

Besides, what if someone else in your state has already picked your name?

Have your lawyer do this right, and avoid any future problems. It's not such a big deal (I have a one-person company) and not that expensive. And you can deduct the incorporating costs.
