Any ideas on a good investment company?

I have been thinking about investing some $$ in stock. I have never done it before, but I do know that a lot of companies have a minimum of $1k, which I have. I have heard of companies like ETrade, Charles Schwab, etc, but does anyone have any experience with any of them? Help please :)

I personally use Scottrade... at $7 a trade online, you can appreciate the savings. Consider researching your own companies... right here on Yahoo! Finance. I have found some solid performers this way. Go to: http://screen.finance.yahoo.com/stocks.h...

I work for a Financial Advising Company and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Your initial consultation in free and we work with people all over the country. You can check out our company at www.fin-tax.com

We would love to try and assist you.

Fidelity has higher commissions, but great customer service. If you are looking for a cheap one with small account minimums, I would go with www.foliofn.com. They don't provide you with many research tools, but they do let you trade for only $4.

If you are are self directing, and not looking for advice, any of the discount brokers will work. I had an etrade account for years. I learned the hard way - Use the pro's - Or at least diversify by buying funds.

Individual stock investments are risky starting point, unless you have a lot of money to buy round lots (often a hundred shares) of several companies. Pick good ones, and set your cash-out and bail out prices (and then stick to them)

Have fun - good luck.

Scottrade is my favorite. They have $7 trades, which seems to be the best in the industry. I think their minimum is $250. I know I have opened a Coverdell College Savings account at Scottrade with $500.

If you are looking for investment ideas I would suggest http://www.top10traders.com - this is a free site where you can see what the best traders are buying and selling. You can create your own portfolio with $100,000 in "play" money. Then you can see how your stock picks perform against other investors. Good Luck.

If you are investing only in mutual funds I suggest just go to Vanguard.com

If you are trading stocks, try Scottrade or Ameritrade.
