I want to know the SWOT analysis of Smiths Group, could someone help me to analyse?

I have a assignment about investment report of Smiths Group, the lecturer asks me to put SWOT diagram in my report, but I dun know what is SWOT of this firm exactly....could someone tell me what its strength, weakness, opportunity and threat are??? By the way, coz there are four divisions in Smiths Group, my lecturer asks me to focus on "Aerospace"!!!! Thanks a lot

I do this at work to preapre a development plan. I take a piece of paper and divide it into 4 quarters, then label Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats

I look at all the things that are going really well in this area of business. Those go into Strengths. Then I turn to the things that aren't going well. The ones where nothing has or could be done go in Weaknessed. The ones where addressing them will improve the situation go in Opportunities (things like a new member of staff). Finally, things that could really damage what we are trying to do (such as long-term illness of someone or tight budget) Those go in Threats.

I would suggest you look into the company's financial position and the staff turnover if you can. Then look at the business plan if you can get access.

Sometimes, thinking of it as a castle helps. What are the best defensive and offensive points (Strengths)? What are the areas where the walls could be scaled (Weaknesses)? Where could you get out to take the battle to the enemy (Opportunities)? Where could the enemy get in (Threats)?
