What are spin offs? And what are the benefits? |
I need a firm answer to what a spin-off is, particularly in the restaurant investment area. And, say a corp went private, and decided to spin off some brands, what would happen to those brands in terms of employee benefits, etc.?? To spin off simply means to get rid of a division, product line, etc. usually by selling to another entity. Brands do not attach to employee benefits so selling a brand has no effect on employee benefits. If part of the sale includes people then they become employees of the purchasing company subject to the new company's benefit program. |
