How can i ask my boss to work less hours while maintaining same pay? |
im an it guy for a small investment firm. most of the time...if there isnt any major problem or any project...all i do is sit around surfing the web. so kinda of bore. my hours are like the rest of other staffs...9-6. i want to work till like 4:30pm instead. i want to help the traders cuz im interested in the stock markets myself. but i dont think im qualify cuz im a it guy and just fix computers...so how the hell would i be able to? hireabookeeper: no i dont want to come in like 7-8 in morning since i will be moving further away due to me buying a coop. so no i dont want to take a 19% pay cut since i have a mortgage to maintain. Ask him if he has more for you to do if your so bored. Is is possible for you to come in earlier? Do they like you a lot? Do you think he would go for it? Are you not willing to take a 19% pay cut? I don't believe you'll find a reasonable boss in the world who will let you work fewer hours for the same pay, especially while your peers work longer hours. If you are there to support the traders, you need to work the same hours as the traders. If you want to work fewer hours, you should find a new job. Maybe offer him something in exchange such as seminars in certain areas once a month or something to that effect |
