Does anybody know a lawyer specialized in stocks, securities and dealing with crooked broker?

7 years ago I moved oversea because of a new job. I gathered my savings (RRSP) from different investment firms and asked a broker to can take care of it. A month ago, I just learned that my portfolio has been reduced to only 20% of the original value.
I did some research and I found out that he is liable because as a broker he must know that the high risk stock is not suitable for an RRSP. He never told me the investments. Now I need a lawyer to represent me in Montreal and to help me recover my RRSP since I do not live in Canada. Thanks in advance.

The laws in Canada probably differ a bit, but in the U.S. you would file a formal complaint with the brokerage firm he is employed with and simultaneously file a formal complaint against him with the NASD, in Canada the equivelent organization is the Investment Dealers Association of Canda. They open an investigation and can discipline the advisor. Trust me on this one, they can make the advisors like very very difficult. You don't need an attorney, you'll get much further by going through the regulatory agency.

thank you. You give much more confidence. Report It
